1. Check NFC is switched on
Most phones have NFC enabled by default, but it can be switched off in settings. Check your phone’s settings (usually under “Connected devices” or “More connections”) and make sure NFC is turned on.
2. Remove thick cases or wallets
A thick phone case, or a card/device sitting inside a wallet or purse with metal elements, can block the tag from being read. Try tapping with the device on its own.
3. Try a slightly different position
NFC antennas sit in different places on different phones , usually the top-back. If nothing happens straight away, try moving the device slowly across the back of the phone.
4. Hold, don’t just touch
A quick touch can be too brief for some phones to register. Hold the device against the phone for a second or two.
5. Try again after a moment
If several taps in a row don’t work, wait a few seconds before trying again , this may be the light rate-limiting in place to protect against automated scanning.
