Technology is only one part of a successful introduction. Staff and families need to understand the purpose, ownership and everyday process before devices appear in classrooms, bags or trip arrangements.
Define the use case
Be specific about the problem MIPACE is intended to help with. Is the focus communication, access to selected assistance information, trips, changing staff or another clear need? A defined use case makes consent, staff guidance and evaluation more meaningful.
Explain control to families
State clearly that parents, guardians or eligible individuals control the profile and decide what appears publicly. The setting may manage a device it owns, but it does not gain ownership of the family’s MIPACE account. Allow time for questions before requesting approval.
Train for the moment of use
Staff do not need a long technical course. They do need to know where a device is, how to tap or scan it, how to recognise the public page and what to do if it does not open. They should also know that the profile supports rather than overrides existing plans and professional judgement.
Set review and exit processes
Decide who checks that issued devices are still appropriate, how incidents are reported, and what happens when a child changes class or leaves the setting. Keep the organisation’s device inventory and responsibilities current.
Please note: MIPACE supports access to information. It does not provide medical advice, replace professional assessment, emergency services, safeguarding procedures or the safety arrangements appropriate to an activity or setting.
