How Tapping & Scanning Works

When an active device is tapped

Most modern smartphones can read an NFC tag without an app. Hold the phone near the MIPACE device, usually near the top back of the phone, and follow the notification or browser prompt.

When a new device is tapped before activation

A delivered MIPACE device is already assigned to the purchaser’s account, but it begins in Pending activation. Tapping it at this stage opens a message explaining that it is not yet activated. The owner must activate it from My MIPACE → Devices.

After activation

Once active, tapping opens the information experience connected to that device and profile. The owner can then manage the device normally, including renaming it or reporting it lost or stolen.

If the phone does not respond

Check that the phone supports NFC, that NFC is enabled where required, and that the phone is held close to the correct area of the device. See the troubleshooting guide for more help.

No viewer app required

The person tapping the device does not need a MIPACE app or account to open the page.
